What is Taith360?

Whilst the ground-breaking new curriculum was being developed by teachers in Wales, staff at the Assessment Foundation were working to develop an assessment system that would:
  • Complement the new curriculum.
  • Help lighten the load of teacher assessment and data processing.
  • Show a complete picture of a child, not just their academic achievements.

This web based system has been developed in consultation with our focus group of Welsh schools and will be available for both Primary and Secondary schools from September 2021 as Taith360.
  • Assess the new curriculum using either our exemplar framework or your own custom framework - and you can assess a whole class in one go!
  • Curriculum Planning against the Areas of Learning and Experience, LNF & DCF and the Four Purposes.
  • Track the progress of your pupils through the curriculum.
  • Pupil input and personal next steps, so each child can engage with their own learning.
  • Contextual groups such as FSM, EAL, etc and attendance populated automatically from your MIS.
  • Record Attitude to Learning and pupil Wellbeing, for a complete picture of each child.

Assessment

Individual subjects have been replaced by six areas of learning and experience. These interconnected branches will form a learning journey for all pupils in Wales from Nursery through to Year 11. The new curriculum focusses on the whole learning experience and the deep bonds between Areas.

Each Area is divided into a number of What Matters statements and further broken down into Descriptions of Learning. Taith360 will allow you to assess the whole curriculum for every child including the LNF and DCF. Assessments made within Taith360 will follow that pupil throughout their school career, which combined with other features within the system, will build a picture of each pupil’s whole learning journey.

  • Assess against all Areas of Learning and Experience using either our exemplar framework or you own customised framework.
  • Our exemplar framework has been developed in collaboration with Welsh curriculum experts.
  • Assess against the LNF & DCF.
  • All Steps, 1 to 5, available.
  • Use the multi-pupil assess option, or assess individual pupils.
  • Easily see curriculum coverage achieved for individual pupils and groups of pupils
Multi-Pupil Assess
With Taith360, you have the ability to assess multiple pupils at once. By selecting a class or group, you will be able to make assessments against several or even all pupils within that class at once - not only saving time, but also letting you see at a glance the stage of all pupils for each description of learning.

A cornerstone of Taith360 is flexibility of use, so you'll be able to make assessments on a pupil-by-pupil basis as well as using multi-assess.

Customisable Assessment Frameworks and the Exemplar Framework
With flexibility in mind, we have built into Taith360 the ability for schools to customise their own assessment frameworks within the system.

For its initial release, Taith360 will be available with a choice of two frameworks: the descriptions of learning as laid out in the CfW document and a customised sample framework - the Exemplar Framework. The exemplar framework will include all the same descriptions of learning, but will also have sub-statements that have been created with Welsh curriculum experts to support assessment of progress towards the descriptions of learning.

Schools will be able to design and upload their own customised assessment frameworks by creating their own sub-statements. We will, of course, be there to support you every step of the way with this.

Curriculum Planning

The planning tool built into Taith360 will allow you to create medium- and long-term plans and use these plans for assessment all within the system.
  • Plan using statements across multiple Areas and What Matters.
  • Include statements from the LNF and DCF in your planning.
  • See class assessments and use statement filters to assist with plan creation.
  • Copy and edit your plans and share them with the rest of your school for greater collaboration.
  • Reference the four purposes and add additional notes to your plans.
  • Export your plans to MS Word for further editing.
  • Save time by assessing your pupils directly from the plan.

Plan Across Multiple Areas
Plans can be constructed using statements from all six Areas alongside statements from the LNF and DCF allowing you to track everything in one place - including planning for the Four Purposes.
PICTURE OF CREATE PLAN PAGE
The familiar progress bars from the Assess page are visible for each description of learning so that you can quickly see where your class is in each aspect of the curriculum as you compile plans, and see how many times each statement has been covered in your planning.

Assess from the Plan
Plans have been designed to link seamlessly with the Assess function of Taith360. By assessing the skills in your plan, you can focus on reviewing the success of your teaching in advancing children's skills.

Edit, Share and Export Your Plans
Once you have plans in place, you will be able to view, edit and assess them at any time. If, from interim assessment, you find that you need to alter a plan mid-way through your teaching, it is a simple matter of loading up the plan and making whatever alterations you need to make adding and removing statements as necessary. Plans can also be shared with other staff within your school, or copied to use another year. And of course, a plan is a living document - so plans in Taith360 can be downloaded into custom templates so that you can use them in your planning portfolios.
